The Past
Sits on the sidelines until you think it is gone
Then comes back with a swagger
which sometimes feels like a dagger
You run but can't hide
It's eating you up inside
Haunting memories near and far
Leaving your head feeling slightly ajar
Anxiety is next to visit
and takes grand hold
You start to wonder if you will live to feel old
Life starts to unfold
Fear is trying to be your best friend
but I refuse to bend
Go away I say
I don't want to play
Go and stay away
Better I am becoming
A new me is forthcoming
Still scary at times
As the hill I try and climb
To get rid of the swines
